International and Internationalized Criminal Courts
International criminal courts are taking a more important place within the international legal system and becoming more influential in the development of international criminal law. In this booklet, Geert-Jan Knoops analyzes the role and position of international and internationalized (mixed) criminal courts within the existing international criminal law. The author not only analyzes these developments but also questions whether the increasing influence of the international criminal tribunals is favorable, especially when compared to the role of the national criminal systems. This analysis is based on the concept of "international peace and security", as set out in Article 42 of the UN-Charter.
