Indian Economy and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

The various sectors of India's economy - industry, finance, trade, transport, health, and education - have adopted information and communication technology (ICT) in a big way. Additionally, in recent years, India has emerged as the most preferred destination for the outsourcing of ICT services. In fact, the ICT industry has become India's premier growth engine, crossing significant milestones in terms of revenue growth, employment generation, and value creation. The rapid growth of the industry has been attributed to the availability of human capital, entrepreneurship, social networking, a favorable policy environment, and the entry of multinationals. This book examines the role and contribution of the ICT industry in various sectors of the economy of India.
