The present work is an intensive study into the indices of modernity found in the community life of Bihar. It is concerned with highly educated women, who not only represent the progressive section of womanhood but also bear a resemblance to the emancipation of Indian women. The book takes an empirical perspective on this problem in the backdrop of the process of modernization that how identities are generated or rekindled in the process.
