Perspectives on Social Development
Edited by: Richard Pais
At present, change has taken the center stage in the developing world. Though change has become the agenda for governments, administrators, planners, and policy makers, it is the social scientists who have to convert ideas into actions. Social scientists not only have the training and competence to analyze social trends, but are also involved in social prediction and social criticism. This festschrift not only tries to understand the relation between social science and development, but it also examines the various perspectives on development with reference to India. The book is presented in honor of Professor Rajeshwar Prasad, President of Indian Social Science Association, Agra, recognizing his service to social science in India. Scholars from India and abroad offer contributions in the book, which will be useful to administrators, planners, policy makers, social scientists, and social workers.
