What we've been up to lately...
The Frankfurt Book Fair in October was, as always, very exciting and busy. The Fair was not only a place to meet publishers, but to keep in touch with the latest developments in the book trade. This year ISBS was on the ground level of Hall 6, which had lots of foot traffic. It was great to have the chance to meet with publishers we currently represent and publishers we may represent in the future.
We welcome to the fold our newest publisher, 5m Publishing and its imprint Old Pond. 5m publishes literature on sustainable agriculture and aquaculture, animal health and welfare, while Old Pond Publishing produces books on small-hold farming and farming machinery. With titles such as, Are Guinea Pigs the Right Pet For You?, Honeybee Veterinary Medicine and Probiotics in Poultry Production, we expect this publisher to make a big splash in North America.
Lessons Not Learned: 10 Steps to Stable Financial Markets, published by Spiramus Press, is now available in the US market. US Economist and financial markets expert, Susanne Trimbath, demonstrates that the theoretical and intellectual frameworks for regulating financial systems that had been available since at least 2001 could have prevented the systemic failure in the United States that led to the collapse of global credit markets in 2007-2009.
Another exciting release for 2015 is TV Peaks, published by University Press of Southern Denmark. With Twin Peaks’ celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the announcement of new episodes to be released in 2017, Andreas Halskov gives readers a timely look at how Twin Peaks pushed the boundaries of 90’s television to change TV drama forever.
Irish Academic Press’s Eileen Gray: Her Work and Her World, by Jennifer Goff, as well as Royal Irish Academy’s 1916: Portraits and Lives, edited by Lawrence William White and James Quinn, have been shortlisted for Best Irish-Published Book of the Year at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards! Exclusively Irish but inclusive in every other sense, these awards bring together readers, authors, booksellers, publishers and librarians to celebrate excellence in Irish writing.
