Portal Books (Norway) was founded in 2005. It is a liberal publishing company in the sense "open and tolerant," publishing books from different political, religious and ideological viewpoints. All their books, no matter the point of view, adhere to a high standard of excellence. The Press publishes approximately 20 books a year, with titles ranging from academic books of various subjects, such as history, art, leadership, management, and psychology, to books on food and travel, and to novels.

Portal Books publishes books by authors recognized for their commitment to their fields of study. In 2008, 2009 and 2011, several of their books were nominated for Sørlandets litteraturpris, an annual award dedicated to books by authors from the Southern region of Norway
