International Courts Association

The International Courts Association (ICA) was founded in 1986 by an international group of scientists, legal professionals, magistrates, and students to examine and promote the work of international courts around the globe. The visible importance of these Courts and Tribunals grew in the early 1990s with, for example, the establishment of the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia and the International Tribunal for Rwanda. The word "international" in the ICA's name does not imply that the ICA only focuses on International operating courts. There are many regional courts (such as, the European Court of Human Rights) that the ICA studies and reports about. The ICA has been publishing and examining these courts and tribunal for the past 20 years. In order to understand the work and impact of the Courts and Tribunals, the ICA took the decision to publish not only series, book and journals on the work of the courts, but also to present more general publications on the various fields of law, such as human rights and the laws of the sea. In 2007, the ICA began to make their publications available for non-ICA members worldwide. In 2011, the ICA partnered with Wolf Legal Publishers for the professional production of ICA's publications, and International Specialized Book Services became the exclusive North American distributor for the International Courts Association.
